Supervisor Chris Parlier Pulls Papers for Re‑Election After Productive First Term

BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. — On January 7, Supervisor Chris Parlier officially pulled papers to run for re-election to serve a full term to represent Kern County’s Second Supervisorial District.

“I was honored to be entrusted by the voters of Kern County to fill a vacancy in the Second Supervisorial District,” said Chris Parlier. “Over the past year, I’ve been inspired every day by the people of this district, who have shown me the dedication it takes to build stronger communities together. I look forward to continuing to work alongside those partners and furthering my commitment to advancing public safety, fiscal responsibility, and improving the quality of life for the constituents.”

Since taking office in December 2024, Parlier has led several initiatives to strengthen public safety, support local businesses and the regional economy, and enhance necessary infrastructure.

Key accomplishments under Supervisor Parlier’s leadership include:

Traveled to Washington, D.C., in April 2025 to advocate for the Kern County oil industry, resulting in the restoration of oil drilling for a 10-year period and the return of thousands of local jobs.

Opened new Sheriff Sub-stations in Taft and Rosamond.

Secured over $300,000 in equipment and operational support for the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department.

Managed approximately $12 million in park improvements and $50 million in road, construction, and infrastructure projects across District 2.

In coordination with state legislators, instituted the procurement of $2 million in state budget funding for fire mitigation efforts through grazing for the Kern County Fire Department, supporting local Kern County sheep herders and wool growers.

Guided the transition of fire protection operations and enforcement of State Fire Marshal regulations in California City to the Kern County Fire Department.

Passed a local ordinance establishing a zero-tolerance policy for catalytic converter theft.

Restored veteran ID card services for local residents.

Led zoning ordinance updates to alleviate operational challenges faced by the trucking industry.

Defended mining operations in District 2 and ensured coordination with federal legislators and inclusion in the County’s 2026 Legislative Program Committee.

Rekindled relationships with long-neglected communities, such as Caliente, restoring trust and confidence in local government.

Oversaw major improvements at Frazier Mountain Park, including pond restoration, restroom upgrades, shed replacement, and beautification projects.

Coordinated rapid restoration efforts for storm-damaged roads in East Kern and fire-damaged communities.

Updated bylaws and filled longstanding vacant appointments on boards, commissions, and committees.

Groundbreaking for the $1 billion Pacific Steel – Mojave Micro Mill, creating hundreds of jobs in East Kern.

Opening of the Hard Rock Casino Tejon, creating thousands of local jobs.

Participated in Rosamond & Taft community cleanups with his appointed Keep Kern Beautiful representatives.

Ride-alongs with code enforcement, sheriff deputies & probation officers.

Significant pending 2026 park improvement projects in Rosamond, Valley Acres, Mojave, Boron, Lake Buena Vista, and Caliente, along with the anticipated groundbreaking for the larger Rosamond Sheriff Sub-station, totaling millions in District 2 investments.

“I am proud of what our office has accomplished for our communities during such a short time,” said Chris Parlier. “We’ve worked hard to protect our neighborhoods, get roads and parks back in shape, support local businesses, and help families when disaster strikes. Chris and his wife, Debbie, have two adult children and four grandchildren. His dedication to family and community is matched by his commitment to addressing the challenges facing Kern County’s Second District.
